This town is just north of Wolfeboro and is known for it's low taxes and relaxed way of living. Tuftonboro abuts Wolfeboro to the south and Moultonboro to the north. Within the town are smaller villages named Mirror Lake, Melvin Village and Center Tuftonboro.
Tuftonboro looks right at the Ossipee Mountains, Mount Shaw in the northeast. Melvin Village is a little burb in Tuftonboro which has an antique car nostalgic theme. There are several antique car enthusiasts in Melvin Village. There is a public beach at 19 Mile Bay and many hiking, biking and snowmobiling trails. Mirror lake is on your right hand side as you head north on Route 109.
Tuftonboro has 10.5% of the total watershed for Winnipesaukee. Lake Winnipesaukee Watershed covers 381 sq miles.
